1/2/2024 0 Comments January 02nd, 2024This week we were working on finishing our final details. This project was a lot rougher than we were thinking to get done but it ended up not turning out too bad. We begin working on our presentation over Christmas break while stating our goals and what actually happened. We ended up not being as organized with our weeks but we still ended up getting a majority done in the 12 week period. We also have happened to get a lot done in the break so, very grateful Mr. Barker gave us that opportunity. Hope the presentation goes well for everyone!

1/2/2024 0 Comments Week 11: Making Our VideoThis week we worked on putting together our video. We had to put all of our clips together on CapCut. When we finished we realized that the video was too long so we had to figure out what clips we didnt need and what clips we could trim them to make them shorter.
1/2/2024 0 Comments Week 10: Playing GolfThis week we got our friend Stella Frye to teach us how to play golf. She has been playing for a few years now with her brother and dad. We went to the driving range in Tanglewood to play. First she taught us the correct form for a good golf swing. She told us that our feet need to be shoulder width apart and that our knees need to be slightly bent. She demonstrated how to do it and showed us how to hold the golf club. We all tried to hold the club and have the correct form. Stella said that we all did really good and her only tip was to keep our knees bent. Next she taught us how to properly swing. She told us that we need to hold the club with our thumbs pointing to the ground. She also told us to keep our eye on the ball and check our alignment. You need to start with your backswing and then go straight into your downswing. We all practiced a few times and she had to correct our form and our swings. She said to make sure your knees are bent and to use strength in your swing. Next, she taught us how to have good accuracy. The main thing she said was to keep your eye on the ball and follow through. She also taught us how to know what club to use. We practiced until we used up all of the golf balls. We asked her who she could see playing golf in the future and she said Ava.
12/20/2023 0 Comments Week 9: Researching GolfThis week we moved on to golf and researched the basics of golf. The golf ball should be set up near your front foot or at least sixe inches in front of your front foot. All of our research emphasizes that you need the right club in order to succeed in golf. Some required equipment are golf clubs, golf balls, golf bag, tees, towels, and a dievt tool. We looked up what the correct form is for a golf swing. We found that your knees should be slightly bent and bending at the waist, keep your hips back and let your arms hang below you. The end of the golf club should line up with your toes, and your arms should form a triangle with your chest. To get the golf ball in the hole you need to have perfect aim. Alignment is the most important part of golf. We also watched a few videos on how to aim correctly. This is all that we learned while researching golf.
12/20/2023 0 Comments Week 8: DanceDuring this week, Kathryn Harpe taught us how to dance. We learned the beginning positions of ballet, how to leap, and turn. Kathryn states that ballet terminology sets the basics for everything else, so we started with that. There are 5 positions. You start in parallel, then turn them out for 1st position. You tendu it out for 2nd position. 3rd position looks like a bookmark, you tuck your heel into the area of the middle of your foot. 4th position you just step it out. You then close it back, so your heel goes into your toe for 5th position. All the dance ballet terms are French. Tiptoe is relevé There are different types of pilé. There is demi pilé and demi pilé. There are arm positions to go with the ballet positions. We did some different types of kicks. We did tendu, degage, and Batma. We learned how to do a jazz square, those were very easy. We learned a few types of tap shuffles. Next, we learned different types of leap. We learned a chassé, which is like a gallop, we learned a straight leap, and we learned a calypso. Lastly, we learned a surprise leap. You act like you will leap to the side and then last minute turn to the front. We lastly learned how to turn. We started off with a pirouette. That is just like a typical turn. We then attempted to learn how to fotettés. The hardest part for us was probably the leaps. They were just pretty confusing and it was hard to kick up high while in a jump. The turns were definitely not the easiest either. Fotettés were not at all easy. We all said that dancing seems like it would be a lot of fun overall but we just don’t
12/20/2023 0 Comments Week 7: Our strugglesThis week we struggled to find someone to teach us dance. We were going to get Lexi’s friend Brily Moore to teach us since she is a dancer. But that did not work out because she injured her hip while working on the dance concert. So we ended up asking Kathryn Harpe if she could teach us dance. She said that she would love to help us out but she was busy and couldn't teach us in person. So she sent us videos of her teaching and demonstrating ballet positions. This week we did not meet up so we caught up on some blogs this week.
12/20/2023 0 Comments Week 6 : Dance ResearchThis week we are researching how to dance. On Google it says to start off with getting inspired, warming up and stretching before the actual dancing part. Google says studying music and learning simple beginner dance moves is the best way to start off. It also states things like taking dance classes, training technique/execution, learning dance with feeling, and exploring through freestyle. The first type of dance we will be doing is hip hop. Hip hop is a vibrant type of dance that includes a lot of cool moves. Some hip hop moves are kick cross step, chest pop, arm wave, body roll, and the dougie. To be a good hip hop dancer it's okay to be loose, stay balanced, research well known dancers, wear something comfortable, keep practicing, learn the moves, control weight distribution, and hinge at the waist. Hip hop is said to be easy to learn and fun to do. The next dance is called lyrical. Lyrical dancing is very graceful and a very smooth-looking type of dance. Some Lyrical dance moves are called chaine turns, soaring piles, and graceful pirouettes. Lyrical dancing usually is made to tell a story and express emotion. This type of dance is a combination of ballet and jazz.
12/19/2023 0 Comments Week 5: Playing Football This week we got our friend Alex to teach us how to play football. First, he taught us how to throw a football properly. He gave us a demonstration of how to do it. He told us that we needed to put our fingers on the white laces and when we throw it we need to flick our wrist to try to create a spiral. We all threw the ball a few times and we were all good at it. We asked Alex who was the best at throwing and he said Ava was the best. Next, he taught us how to catch the ball. He threw the football at us so that we could catch it. First, he threw the ball at Ava and she caught it on the first try. Daniela was next and she also caught on her first try. Then he threw the football at Lexi and she also caught it on her first try. We spent a few minutes throwing and catching the ball. We asked him who was the best at catching the ball and he said Lexi.
Then he taught us how to tackle. First, he demonstrated how to tackle and he showed us the right form. We got Olivia Williams to be the person we tackled. We tackled each other gently and didn't use much force because we didn't want anyone to get hurt. Ava went first and tried to tackle Olivia. She didn't tackle her on the first try but after a bit of practice and Alex correcting her form, she was able to get it after a few tries. Then it was Daniela’s turn to tackle Olivia. She also had to try a few times before being able to tackle Olivia. Lexi went next and she also had to try a few times to be able to actually tackle Olivia. Tackling was the part that we all struggled the most because we didnt want to be to rough and accidentally hurt ourselves or Olivia. We asked Alex who was the best at defense and he said that Ava was better at it than Daniela and Lexi. After this we did offense. This time instead of us tackling Olivia, Olivia was tackling us. Alex taught us how to try to prevent getting tackled. Olivia tackled all of us and she did it on the first try. She was definetly better than all of us at tackling. We practiced a few times and we kept trying to dodge her tackles while catching the ball without dropping it. Alex said that Daniela was the best at this. Finally, we asked Alex who he could see playing football the most. He said Ava and his reasoning was because that she is the strongest out of the three of us. 10/22/2023 3 Comments Week 4: Football for beginnersThis week we have been researching the basics of football. So far, we have learned that there are three main parts of football, deffense, offense, and special teams. The defense makes sure that the offense doesnt score and the special teams are used to change field position. We also know that there are 11 players on each team on the field. We researched how to throw a football correctly and have watched a few videos. We are going to get one of our friends to teach us how to play football. We want to be taught how to properly throw the ball, how to catch the ball, etc. We also want to see what type of exercies football players have to do in order to stay in shape and prevent injuries. So, this week we have been trying to understand the basics of football and hopefully next week we will know how to play.
10/15/2023 1 Comment Week Three: Learning LacrosseWe got our friend Olivia to teach us how to play lacrosse. First she taught us how to cradle the ball. Cradling is when you rotate the stick in half-turns. We all struggled at first but Olivia helped us work on our technique. After we practiced how to cradle we asked Olivia who was the best at it. She said that Lexi was the best at cradling. Next, Olivia taught us how to throw the ball. She had to show us the correct form on how to hold the stick and how to aim. We all thought that throwing was pretty easy to do. Olivia said that Daniela was the best at throwing. Olivia also taught us how to do long passes. She told us that we had to throw it with more power for the long passes. Daniela and Ava did good but Lexi did struggle at first because she wasnt throwing it with enough power. She eventually got the hang of it after practicing for a little bit. Olivia said that Ava was the best at the long passes. After Olivia taught us how to throw she taught us how to catch. She passed each of us the ball a few times so that we could get used to it. Olivia said that Daniela was the best at catching. Finally, Olivia taught us how to check. Checking is where you hit an opposing players lacrosse stick so that they drop the ball. We all struggled with this becuase we didnt know how hard we had to hit the other stick so that the other person would drop the ball. After practicing a while of practicing Olivia said that Lexi was the best at checking. We aksed Olivia who was the best overall at lacrosse and she said Ava. Olivia said that if we were to play lacrosse Lexi would be defense, Daniela would be attack, and Ava would be midfielder.
